In the following interview, Maxime shares with us how she started planning her wedding journey and will give you her exclusive tips!
We started planning our wedding in 2021 and knew that we wanted to explore the idea of getting married in Croatia. My mother is from Croatia and it is my first language and second home and holds a very special place in our hearts. Connor and I actually started dating there back in 2016 and felt like it was the perfect place to tie the knot!
We decided on September 23, 2023 on the island Hvar in Croatia at Hotel Palace Elisabeth where we hosted our guests for 2 days for a weekend of love and celebration. Once we had chosen the location, I began searching for my dress with my mom, mother in law and maid of honor. I had heard such amazing things about Mark Ingram in NYC and it was actually one of the first few places we visited when the dress search started!
How did you know your dress was 'the one’?
When I tried on the Jordi dress, I immediately knew it was the dress for me. I had tried on a few other dresses but they didn’t meet all the criteria I had been looking for: chic, elegant, expressive, unique and one that had that WOW factor. The Jordi dress encompassed all of those feelings for me and I was immediately in love with it and knew it was also perfect for the venue of the wedding! The one sleeve was so sultry but also extremely elegant at the same time. I was, and still am, so in love with the dress!
How did you find working with the bridal store team?
The bridal team at Mark Ingram was fabulous! I worked with Jill and she was very attentive, she listened to my opinions, my feedback and my reactions and knew what to bring me even when I didn't know what to pick off the shelf! I couldn't have asked for a better experience - I really enjoyed working with the MI team!
Advices that you would give to our future brides?
1. Trust yourself. Try different things, be open to new styles you might not have picked right away and see how they can transform the way you feel once you put them on. 2. Being open minded was so crucial to my bridal gown experience and I am so happy that I was both open but also that I listened to my gut when trying on all the dresses! 3. Don't let other people's opinions get in the way of how you feel and what you want!
What was your wedding theme?
If I had to describe my wedding in one theme, it would be: elegance. I wanted my guests to feel special, cared for, and that they would feel the love we projected all weekend. The venue we picked was grand, elegant and beautiful with the unique details and location and I felt the Jordi dress was a perfect match to the location and to my style!
